Why can't I eat in the media center?

There are several reasons.  In most cases food and trash are left behind.  We have uncovered chicken bones, cups of yogurt, bowls of soup, and more.  Many of these are stuffed into shelves.  We rely on our custodial staff to clean, but often we must do it ourselves.  Food and drink in the keyboards or on the mice can obviously result in damage.  There are no exceptions for students.

05

What are your lending policies?

Fiction, memoir, graphic books, short stories circulate for 3 weeks.

Nonfiction circulates for 1 week.

Reference and Reserve materials circulate over night.

06

What's with all of the fines?

The media center assesses a fine of $0.05 for each day late.  Reference and Rserve materials are assessed a $1.50 fine per day.  Reference and Reserve materials are needed each day for classes.  These must be returned.

07

What about parking and textbook fines?

The media center collects these fines but is not responsible for fines for damages or lost books.  If you feel you have been assessed a textbook fine  unjustly, you should discuss this with your teacher. We are not responsible for these.  If you cannot resolve the problem with the teacher, we will then investigate the issue with you.  Money collected goes to the school's general textbook fund, not to the media center.

The media center collects parking fines.  We have NOTHING to do with these fines other than collecting the money.  Disputes over these fines should be taken up with whomever assigned the ticket.  No exceptions.

Why do you charge for printing?

We charge for printing to aid in purchasing toner cartridges for the three media center printers.  Some cartridges can cost $100.00 or more.  We are not charging for paper (unless you want an unusually large amount).  We strongly encourage going paperless whenever possible.  If you don't need to print it, don't print it.  If you are printing from a website or printing a PowerPoint presentation, please seek assistance.
